K - West Greenlandic
Q - Cape Farvel (Southernmost Greenland)
T – East Greenlandic
King - First name used as the genus name

Names with no explanatory notes are names approved after 1986.

This list of Greenlandic names is based on the publication of names approved by the Inuit Aqqinik Akuersisartut – Personal Names Committee published in 2007, with names of European origin included.

Meaning of names. Some names are indicated in bold. These are names which include explanation on meaning and distribution. Just click on the name and the information will appear. Wherever possible, you will also be informed about the number of name bearers as of January 1st 2005, as extracted from the Danish Civil Registration System. Whenever we have new information, this will be added on a regular basis.
